#WiPWednesday is how we will be showing the progress made each week with the event.

Age of Sigmar

Warhammer 40000 Championships at Blood and Glory

Warhammer 40000 at Blood and Glory

Hi and welcome to the Blood and Glory Warhammer 40,000 Championship.

My name is Liam Jordan and I’m looking to build on the success of last years foray into the world of Warhammer 40,000 events with the rest of the Blood and Glory team. I got back into Warhammer 40,000 with the release of 8th edition back in the summer of 2017 but since getting back in I’ve attended a handful of events over the last year building on my experiences in playing Age of Sigmar and other systems over the last 15 years of attending tournaments to hopefully bring you all a fantastic weekend of gaming at a truly fantastic venue.

blood and glory 2017

So what do you get for your entry fee?

We’re providing a weekend of gaming culminating in us crowning the Blood and Glory Champion for 2018 in just about every major system Games Workshop Produce. If you’re playing Warhammer 40,000 this means playing 5 games over 2 days on high quality, aesthetically pleasing functional terrain where both strong assault and armies who would rather deal with their foes at range will find a home.

As detailed in the rules pack you’ll play 5x 3 hour long games at 1750 points aiming to score as many tournament points as you can in each game to give you a total between 0-150. To that you’ll score up to an additional 25 from the painted army you’ll be bringing along to the event and another 30 from things like voting for your favorite opponent over the weekend, submitting your army list on time and letting us know who you feel should win the players choice for the best army. These will give you your overall score out of 205 and the player with the most of these will be crowned our overall champion.

But that’s not all. We’ll also have prizes for the players who also finish 2nd and 3rd overall, the most sporting player of the weekend as voted by yourselves, prizes available for both player and judge best armies, the best finishing players from the Imperium, Chaos and Xenos brackets as well as a little something for the unfortunate soul who finishes in last place.

The weekend isn’t all about the Championship or even Warhammer 40,000. We’ve got smaller events starting on Friday afternoon with even more on Friday evening and another event (no matter your favorite system) to keep you entertained on the Saturday night as well. I would really look at making it a full 3 day event with one of our Ironman tickets providing you with entry to the Championship, side events and includes your food for the weekend at a discounted rate.

No matter what events you choose to enter, Warhammer 40,000 or otherwise I look forward to seeing you all at the event in November.

Liam

The Blood and Glory Ironman

blood and glory ironman

This year the IRONMAN event has returned to Blood and Glory and has received an update.

Blood and Glory IRONMAN is a full weekends access all events pass.  You can take part in all the events available on the weekend (even if sold out!), mixing and matching game systems and taking part in as many as 5 different tournaments (possibly more as extras are announced.

For example, you could arrive on Friday morning and register as an Ironman, receive your Event T-Shirt, dice, meal and drinks vouchers and objective tokens and dive right into you first tournament kicking of at 11am on Friday.

At the time of writing this we have a choice of Age of Sigmar, 40k and Underworlds taking place.  You would then play all day and the next tournament is ready to begin at 7pm on Friday night.  You can then stick with the same game system or switch things up and choose a different event and even take in a seminar.

This will carry on over the weekend and by the awards ceremony on Sunday evening you will be up for the award of IRONMAN against your fellow competitors.

Also included with an Ironman ticket is:

Blood and Glory Ironman T-Shirt
Blood and Glory Dice and Objective Counters
3x Meal and Drinks vouchers (Saturday Lunch, Saturday evening, Sunday Lunch)
VIP Access to the Games Workshop Seminar
Entry into the Ironman competition to be crowned the overall Blood and Glory champion.

Blood and Glory 2018 Bar and Food Menu

Last year at Blood and Glory we handed out feedback forms and we had a huge number filled in and returned to us.  We spent a long time looking a them and seeing where we could improve the event going forwards.

Overall the feedback was pretty amazing. I was blown away by some of the comments about the event and the support we got from the players, especially 40k and Heresy when these are traditionally not a ‘Bad Dice’ game that we are familiar with.

There was one massively overwhelming amount of feedback that was on almost every single sheet that we had returned. I would say 95% of the feedback sheets (over 150!) mentioned the food and drink in some form or other. Most of this was to say that the Bar and Food were expensive for what was being offered.

The food and bar was something that was not handled by ourselves, so we have limited control over. We chose this route as organising an event for 350 attendees has its own challenges without also having to think about catering. However, after the overwhelming feedback received we have been back to the venue and agreed a set menu and bar prices that are entirely more reasonable.

Additionally we will be ensuring that free tap water is easily avaliable in all areas of the venue.

Here is a 2018 Blood and Glory Bar and Food menu.

How to find, and park at the Blood and Glory Venue.

How to find, and park at the Blood and Glory Venue.

Hi, its Blood and Glory tomorrow so I wanted to make sure everyone knows how to find the venue and let you all know where is the best place to park you cars

Head straight for reception

The building that you can see here is the main reception of the college.

If coming on Friday, when you arrive just head into there and say you have come to play Warhammer and someone will escort you to the right part of the building.

On Saturday morning there will be security on the gate to wave you through.

Where to park?

If you are staying in a local hotel then leaving your car at the hotel and walking into teh venue is sth best option. The Roundhouse has a car park that is £2 to park.  This will be open from 4pm on Friday and from 8am Saturday and Sunday.

If you are arriving on Friday before 4pm (to play Shadespire) then you will need to find the somewhere else to park.  The nearest pub is restricted parking so do not stay there.  The train station NCP is very expensive. The best 2 options are ‘The Point’ carpark which is the nearest car park to teh round house or Park and Ride from Derby Sports Arena.  This should take 2 mins on the bus.

The Point – Green parking – http://www.green-parking.co.uk/derby-the-point-car-park-site/

Pride Park park and ride – http://www.derbyconnected.com/getting-around-derby/buses/park-and-ride-to-derby/pride-park-and-ride/

If not parking at the venue there is a drop off bay outside for unloading.

One last thing.

We are registering from 12 on Friday with Shadespire kicking off at 2pm and the evening seminar starts at 9pm

There is the chance to buy the new Shadespire Warbands, build them and enter the tournament, if you are coming down later in the evening then we have a bar open until midnight and food available to buy until 9pm.

Open gaming space will be available all day Friday and into the evening.

Happy to help.

If you need any help just reply to this email and I will be in touch.

See you at the event!

Blood and Glory 2017 Results

The results are in and we have a winner for Blood and Glory 2017!

Before I get to the overall standings I want to say some thanks to everyone involved in making this the best blood and glory yet, and also the UK’s largest miniature war gaming event.

The Bad Dice team! – I couldn’t have done it without help from Andy, Mark, Chris, Steve, Tim, Harry and Simon.  An event like this need good people to make it happen and we certainly had that.

Games Worksop – They helped with terrain, trophies, promotion, Shadespire and the community team coverage.  It was an awesome job, thanks to the community team.

Table War Gaming Mats – The Table Mats are all from Table War, they did us a great deal on these.

The ITC and Frontline gaming – The 40K event is getting uploaded to the ITC standings.

Most importantly, The Players.  You guys made this a fantastic event that was a joy to organise and I can’t wait for next year!

If you want to grab next years tickets you can do so now for 1 week only.  This ticket allows you to secure a place and not have to worry about getting one in the rush when they go on sale next summer.
